The rate for this position is 48.50GBP per hour.

Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer (contract). The Principal Engineer will support the Lead Engineer with ensuring project delivery and quality of work produced. The Principal is responsible for specifying, technical evaluation and acceptance testing of mechanical equipment supplied by UK and international manufacturers modifications to existing equipment or purchasing new equipment including but not limited to:
 
  • Static equipment - pressure vessels, columns, tanks, filters and heat exchangers.
  • Rotating equipment – turbines, compressors, pumps, fans, expanders and blowers.
  • Packaged equipment – power generation, gas dehydration, crude oil treatment, produced water handling and utility systems.
  • Other associated equipment within the Oil and Gas industry.
 
Specific Duties Include: 
 
•           Resolving technical queries, ensuring the resolution is satisfactory and all design changes are captured by the change control process
•           Conducting site surveys
•           Producing calculations required for the role and participating in design reviewing and approving discipline documents
•           Producing documentation deliverables for inclusion in workpacks, and or, design books on time to meet project deadlines
•           Providing input to project planning as part of the project team for achieving the target and completion within the budget and schedule; ensuring that all engineering work is carried out in accordance with Asset priorities and schedules as set out in the project plan
•           Planning, budgeting and coordination of resources, contributing to the development of plans, schedules and estimates for the individual work scopes.  Preparation of engineering and construction scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary 
•           Reviewing and reporting on job progress and cost reports regarding engineering activities
 
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer and hold an Engineering Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline. We are looking for someone with good working knowledge of legislative standards and engineering procedures, industry, international and client codes. The successful candidate will have effective communication and organisational skills, be self-motivated with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
