Job Purpose
The Senior Safety Engineer will be responsible for implementation and continual
improvement of the design safety, loss prevention and contractor safety.
 The Senior Safety Engineer will be responsible for implementation and continual
improvement of the design and site safety, loss prevention and contractor safety.
 This position coordinates also Process Safety tasks and Asset Protection efforts mainly
from design point of view and that help the preparation of the operation phase. For
process safety, the senior Engineer will collaborate with engineering and operation
teams and interact with the other disciplines and develop
philosophies/plans/procedures when required.
 Provides technical expertise to help evaluate risks and cost-effectively resolve safety
design and occupational safety issues, including recommendations from safety studies,
audits and incident investigations.
 Lead, support and advise technical methods and control of relevant technical safety
matters lead/participate in incident investigations and safety training.
 Coordinate with the support of other project teams the occupational health issues in
terms of design, field execution activities and preparation of operation phase.
 Interact with Project team, Partners and Contractors on safety topics.

Main Responsibilities
Have planned the rule to join during EPCI phase where most of engineering work will be
delivered, the safety engineer shall prepare for maintaining and deliver all safety
documentations and ensure the implementation of safety requirements within the
project detailed design. She/he shall provide the same support on health part of the
project in collaboration with the relevant parties (e.g. health department). This shall also
include and not limited to the following:
 Safety Reviews (HAZID/HAZOP/Bowtie).
 Fire and Explosion Risk Analysis if required.
 Emergency Escape and Rescue analysis.
 Safety and Environmental Critical elements and performance standards.
 Quantitative Risk Analysis and ALARP demonstration and building of a Safety Case.
 Emergency and oil spill response preparedness and plans.
 Management of changes records and reports.
 Safety requirement specification requirements.
 Material take off and equipment specification of SECEs.
 Initial test records relevant to the performance standards of a SECEs.
 Action tacking follow up till closure.
 Ensure elements of safety and health management systems are covered under the
Integrated HSE Management System.
 Be proficient with international Codes and Standards, Industry Best Practice and Safety
Regulation.
Define the safety technical aspects of procurement of equipment and services including
preparation of requisitions, technical bid evaluation, vendor data review, scope
development and management.
 Participate in audit plans as a member during EPCI. Carry regular reviews, workplace
inspection and audits as part of project development process.
 Review of safety and other project documents issued by company and contractors.
 Support the management of health and safety statistic reporting of the project. Track
and provide regular HSE performance reporting. Monitor and report project health and
safety performance KPIs related to Company and Contractors.
 Ensure safety information and documents are complete and accessible.
 Be able to participate, lead and /or facilitate engineering studies if required for any
change management.
 Environmental Data, and use the information for interdisciplinary support;
 Check the safety technical completeness and correctness of work done by other
disciplines or contractors.
 Represent company for factory inspections and testing, presentations, seminars ……etc.
 Be proficient in demonstration of ALARP report.
 Support the HSE Manager and team with planning, coordinating and implementing of
effective HSE policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that the project objectives
are met. She / he shall support also the implementation of Company-wide HSE initiatives
and certification (e.g. ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001).
 Provide support to Project team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, safety
issues.
 During execution, support the HSE Manager in ensuring HSE compliance onshore and
offshore and perform regular HSE audits in the project areas of activities (e.g. fabrication
yards, constuctions sites, installations vessels).
 Attend project meetings as required on HSE related matters.
 Ensure training, tool box meetings, and drills are implemented as part of the company’s
HSE management system.
 Assist in the development of the HSE training programs of Company project employees.
 Ensure all worksites are HSE compliant with HSE policies and safety standards as per
Company requirements.

Key Activities
 Develop and integrate Safety Management system into HSEQ MS and report safety KPIs;
 Contribute to development, implementation of the company HSEQ plan and continually
monitor, update and communicate the plan to contractors and stakeholders.
 Develop and ensure follow up of HSE action tracking register and shall be able to
demonstrate that actions are well recorded, followed and closed.
 Review of safety and other project documents issued by the contractors. Contribute to
the design of engineering solutions of and support producing detailed designs
specifications. Prepare and contribute in the Company deliverables that shall to meet
company standards. Review Contractors deliverables that shall meet company
requirements.
 Maintains the company readiness of Emergency Response resources including
equipment, processes and teams during EPCI.
 Monitors the contractors procedures and proposes improvements as necessary.
 Conduct safety audits and produce reports with recommendations.
 Investigate and maintains records of onsite incidents.
 Develop and communicate lessons to be learned to stake holders in the company.

Thorough understanding of HSE Management System.
 Professional and personal stature to interface with, and influence, a wide variety of
contacts, including management, staff, dependants, contractors, other professional, as
well as stakeholders.
 Ability to communicate effectively with a multicultural setting.

Education and Qualifications
 Engineering degree with relevant HSEQ engineering qualifications.
 Master degree in Safety Management is preferred.
 Strong background in HSEQ with specific experience in LNG liquefaction and Gas Subsea
Production System.
 Strong skill in project development management.
 Management skills advanced course - HSE advanced course.
 15 years of Oil and Gas Industry experience preferably LNG offshore development.
 At least 10 years in senior position of occupational/process safety.

 Be proficient in interpreting P&IDs, Cause and Effects charts, Single line diagram and
other document that are required for design safety studies.
 Technically proficient in all areas of Safety Management and relevant areas of loss
prevention engineering.
 Facilitator of safety assessments (e.g. HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, SIL and LOPA).
 Occupational health and safety management system development and implementation.
