  • Location = Woking, UK.
  • Salary = Negotiable for the right candidate. Ball park – 100k base.
  • Start Date = As soon as preferred candidate is available.

  • DESIGN – Candidates should have experience with EPC design for large extra high voltage substations and switchyards for Onshore land-station substations, petrochemical or for the Oil and Gas Industry.
  • AUTHORITIES – Candidates should have experience with National Grid code requirements specified in the UK & European regions. Ability to interpret and challenge Electrical Network Studies performed by regulatory bodies, specialist agencies etc.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Able to prepare/review Functional design specification for the Electrical design of Onshore land
stations
 Shall be able to design / select HV equipment ratings, propose value engineering ideas to
optimize the layout design
 Aware of Consents, permits, local regulations applicable to the UK & European region
 Experience of working with local sub-contractors for outdoor switchyard design, supply,
installation of major electrical equipment
 Understand / review the building design (lighting, small power, earthing, lightning protection
system, F&G systems) from Specialist agencies applicable to the extra high voltage substations
or switchyards.
 Aware of Facility Green initiatives to be applied while designing Onshore land station
 Experience with executing large Onshore land stations or Substation facility for high voltage AC
and high voltage DC offshore platform projects
 Shall have knowledge & experience with National Grid code requirements specified in the UK &
European regions
 Able to review / challenge the Electrical network studies performed by Specialist agencies with
regards to Contract requirements and local regulations
 Able to review / challenge the Electrical protection co-ordination studies prepared by Specialist
agencies with regards to Contract requirements and national grid requirements
 Knowledge & experience in understanding the interfaces with Wind turbines, national grid
authorities
 Preferably able to perform system studies simulations using DigSilent and/or PSCAD software
(specifically applicable to the offshore wind projects)
 Ensure quality and technical excellence, provide key managerial, administrative & technical
support and boost morale of the team members for the jobs under supervision. Provide
necessary technical guidance to lead engineer and all team members on job to ensure smooth
working of both home-office & offsite offices.

 Supervise and lead a team of engineers and designers in Home office and Engineering Center
(EC) carrying out detailed engineering work for large size projects.
 Review ITB (Invitation to Bid) documents submitted in the proposals stage, issue inquiry
requisitions, review techno-commercial vendor offers, prepare equipment, material and man-hour
estimates, Cost estimate, list of deliverable, Logistic BOQ, Construction BOQ, Software
requirement and Vendor representative requirement for constriction / Commissioning supervision.
 Participate in Proposal Cost review meeting with management.
 Provide necessary support and guidance to Project Control, Construction and Commissioning.
 Participate in Contract Review process and provide required inputs to Lead Engineer.
 Interact with other discipline within Company as well as with Client, Original equipment
manufacturers, Sub-contractors as and when required in close consultation with the lead.
 Review all key documents before issue and ensure that all systems are in place for preparation of
engineering documents.
 Identify opportunity cost effective measures for value engineering and design optimization.
 Guide and support lead engineers to carry out risk/reward/technical integrity studies of electrical
systems.
 Review engineering problems and guide the team in selecting safe, efficient and economical
solution.
 Participate in Design Reviews, SAFOP, constructability reviews on need basis.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
 Overall experience with min. qualification – Bachelor’s degree in Electrical power system studies.
Post-graduation is preferred.
 Detail design engineering related experience preferably from a background in working for
consultancy organizations or EPC for large extra high voltage substations and switchyards for
various Onshore land-station substations, petrochemical or for the Oil and Gas Industry.
 Possess good knowledge of relevant local codes & standard from the UK and European region,
DNV-GL, IEC, BS, IEEE.
 Shall possess ability to grasp other international standards and Client specifications as
demanded by work.
 Familiarity with applicable German laws and regulations (e.g. BlmSchG Standards).
 Very good interface management skills with Civil Contractor, HVDC Contractor, Auxiliary
Equipment Supplier, HVDC/HVAC cable contractor, German regulatory bodies, Local municipality
and environmental agencies, Design approval agencies etc as this role will require extensive
interface management and design co-ordination
 Knowledge of System Engineering and BIM requirements (including RDS)
