We support flexible working requests and have adopted a hybrid approach for most of our office-based roles. We ask employees to be present in the office at least three days per week.

The Role:

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will provide expert support to the design and specification of process facilities, particularly, but not exclusively, in the energy transition and downstream areas.  Typically, you will work as a technology specialist under a Lead Engineer or Study Manager and be technically responsible for the design of open-art process units and their equipment on a project, and for the review of technology licensor packages.  You will use your expertise and knowledge to solve a broad range of downstream, midstream and energy transition challenges to ensure that the facilities work seamlessly when the design and construction are completed, and also to assist the business development team in the acquisition of new business.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • A good chemical process engineering degree
  • Experience and good theoretical knowledge of downstream, midstream and energy transition processes in the areas of:  open-art process units and technology licensor process units
  • Ideally hold chartered status with a recognised professional institution
  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas would be beneficial:
    • Exposure to consultancy, FEED, detailed design and EPC projects
    • Proficiency with applicable, relevant process simulation software, able to create models from scratch
    • Waste to fuels plants with a wide variety of waste products and feedstocks
    • Safety and quality procedures and best practice
    • Applicable international and industry specifications, standards and codes
  • Good communication skills are essential, and you will have an excellent standard of written and spoken English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performing process engineering designs via hand calculation and suitable software, as appropriate
  • Performing roles up to Lead Engineer on concept and FEED design projects
  • Producing clear and concise consultancy and technical reports
  • Preparing and / or checking specifications, design calculations, data sheets and drawings quickly and efficiently
  • Ensuring all outputs are compliant with our ISO accredited quality, project control, safety and integrity procedures
  • Managing and supervising work of others, including workshare offices, subcontractors and vendors
  • Utilising your experience, you will commit to plan work packages reporting progress and forecasting
  • Providing technical leadership for Petrofac’s energy transition initiatives
  • Supporting Consultancy Business Development, including technical presentations to clients during the tender phase and supporting Consultancy Proposals (including technical execution methods, man-hour estimates and schedule development)
  • Specifying licensed and open-art process equipment
  • Attending Energy Transition conferences and industry groups as an active participant and presenter
  • Capable of managing / directing engineers and specialist consultants of all disciplines
  • Working closely with our clients, many of whom spend considerable time within our offices, to produce bespoke and optimal solutions
  • Taking responsibility to input into, review and endorse capital and operational cost estimates
  • Understanding of construction requirements and the limitations that these could impose on option selection
  • Preparation of reports and presentation of results to clients
  • Taking full technical ownership of the work
