KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role is focused on the delivery of Environmental deliverables under the UK, EU and international regulatory frameworks. You will be responsible for developing and executing work processes to ensure that project deliverables at all stages of the project lifecycle meet regulatory and client requirements.
  • As an Environmental Engineer, you must be adaptable and be able to interpret and apply regulatory requirements and standards.  This includes dealing with new technologies for which little to no current standards exist.
  • You will be required to support a range of projects and provide advice to other engineering disciplines.
  • Write and check clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work effectively within the growing technical safety and environment team and share findings with all key stakeholders early and effectively.
  • Working across the project life cycle, from feasibility and concept, through FEED, detailed design or supporting Group EPC projects.
  • Communication with other engineering disciplines and senior management.
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing critical deliverables including:
    • Emissions assessment
    • BAT assessment
    • ENVID
    • Aspects and Impacts register
    • Environmental design philosophy
    • Environmental and waste management plan
    • EIA SOW/screening and scoping document

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Environmental or related discipline.
  • Related experience working for consultancy, engineering and/or client organizations.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU regulatory regimes (Planning, Environmental permitting, PPC, IPPC, BAT etc…).
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements across different regulatory regimes.
  • Excellent standard of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to effectively take on new challenges.

Desirable Skills:

  • Master’s degree in an Environmental or related discipline.
  • Experience in the energy transition arena.
  • Membership with a relevant institution (IEMA, CIEEM etc…).
  • Experience delivering Environmental Engineering deliverables (Emissions assessments, Design philosophies, ENVID, Management plans, BAT assessments etc…).
  • Modelling experience – Emissions, noise etc.
  • Experience working on international projects.
