Project Manager (Nuclear Waste) - Home Working (with Oxfordshire office trips)

Project Manager for an initial 12 month contract role that has an immediate start and a target limited company rate to man of circa £50.00 per hour.

Working from home but also with face to face engagements, meetings, and workshops etc. at the Clients offices (Oxfordshire) or designated community site locations; exact details are yet to be confirmed.

The role is likely to be outside IR35 but the final decision will be made after a Qdos assessment


Successful candidates must be able to complete Security Clearance

Provide Nuclear Waste Services (NWS), Programme and Project Management support, to supply the necessary services, resources and skills needed to establish and develop their Geological Disposal Facility (GDF).

Working collaboratively with NWS, to complement the existing capability and provide NWS access to a pool of high-quality programme and project management resources to support the development of the GDF.

ROLE INFO

We’re looking for a Project Manager on the Call-off Contract, this role will require the Project Manager to work in an agile environment, delivering the work both remotely, working from home and face to face engagements, meetings, and workshops etc. at the Clients offices or designated community site locations; exact details are yet to be confirmed.

The Role
Supporting the delivery of client’s allocated Service Packages for Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) Major Capital Programme for the Geological Disposal Facility.
The Project Manager will provide Leadership, Direction, and Management Support in delivering allocated Service Packages, released as part of the NWS Major Capital Programme for the Geological Disposal Facility. They will provide assurance that Service Packages and or allocated scopes of work are delivered in a safe, efficient, and effective manner that’s in line with the Clients Wider Objectives.
 The Project Manager will be accountable to the Programme Lead and or Senior Project Manager and will be responsible for the management and oversight of their scope of works.
Responsibilities for this role includes:
  • Managing their individual Service Packages and or scopes of work as per agree plans and deliverables;
  • Ensuring that the interdependencies and interfaces with other Service Packages, projects, stakeholders and the Authorities are suitably addressed;
  • Deputising for and or representing the Programme Lead or Senior Project Manager;
  • Coordinating and managing workshops;
  • Monitoring and reporting progress against scheduled activities;
  • Proactively managing change, risks, issues, opportunities and dependencies;
  • Providing regular and accurate reporting updates on the performance of the Service Packages to the Leadership Team and Programme’s stakeholders;
  • Undertaking effective stakeholder management and providing active support to community representatives;
  • Processing and expediting document deliverables;
  • Preparation of the weekly and monthly dashboard reports and metrics;
  • Development of alternate plans to respond to unplanned events;
  • Knowledge sharing with the Client and the wider NWS team;
  • Documenting and producing Minutes of Meetings (MoM); and
  • Informing Project / Contracts Manager on performance, issues and risks and mitigation actions.
The Project Manager will be accountable for the production and upkeep of all relevant project documentation as required by the Programme Lead and or Senior Project Manager including but not limited to:
  • Project Briefs and Mandates;
  • Earned Value Management;
  • Action logs;
  • RAID logs;
  • Decision logs;
  • Project Detailed Implementation Plans (DIP Schedules); and
  • Change Requests
The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the governance is maintained and appropriately managed.  This could include board, assurance, and engagement with the wider programme, reporting and change processes as required.
The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the Programme Lead and or Senior Project Manager are appraised of the progress throughout the life of the engagement.  Specific reporting requirements include but are not limited to:
  • Completion and submission of weekly progress reports;
  • Completion and submission of DIPs into the integrated programme schedule; and
  • Weekly timesheet and personal activity updates.
  1. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • A track record of holding a project delivery type role on technology or delivery-based programmes;
  • Experience of applying User requirements and programme objectives to a project, driving business cases and management of customer objectives;
  • Experience in project management, project controls and contract management;
  • Working knowledge of all aspects of project management including risk management, change management and mitigation technique;.
  • Working knowledge of schedule management and techniques to interrogate and proactively manage interdependencies;
  • Proven ability to assimilate project information from a variety of sources, understand the impact/implications of mis-alignments and issues and propose actions;
  • Proven ability to collaborate with other teams of adjacent projects to achieve optimal time, cost, performance objectives;
  • Good team working and interpersonal skills with the confidence to deal with people at all levels;
  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including report writing and presentation skills;.
  • Demonstrable stakeholder engagement; and
  • Application of behavioural management techniques.
  1. QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS
ESSENTIALS:
  • Degree or Diploma in a Commercial, Engineering or Technology discipline;
  • A robust track record 5 – 8 years in project management;
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively;
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices;
  • Experience seeing projects through the full lifecycle;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills; and
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timelines.
DESIRABLE/PREFERRED:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP);
  • Managing Successful Programmes (MSP);
  • Association for Project Management (APM);
  • Chartered Project Professional (ChPP);
  • Practitioner of PRINCE2, Agile Project Manager and Management of Risks (MoR); and
  • Microsoft Project and or Primavera P6.
